Fixing and careing your bat
It is very important to fix and take care of your bat in order to enjoy table tennis. Madison gives you some advices that will help you to enjoy even more. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question.

1) Varnish the wood: We recommend to players that use frequently optimizers ("boosters") to varnish the blade with a specially table tennis product. The best way is to apply a thin layer of this special varnish over the playing surface of the blade and let it be absorbed after some hours. It is important to mention that after varnishing the original touch of the blade is lost but you will gain in hardness and speed. And the most important thing, your blade will last longer because you will not get the typical chips from ungluing the rubbers.
Note: It is normal that after varnishing your blade, rubbers unglue easily for the first 2 or 3 times.

2) Glueing of the rubbers: There are two types:
- with adhesive sheet (double layer). You get an excellent ball feeling but slightly slow. It is perfect when you want to keep the rubbers glued for long time.
- with fixed clean glue (aqua glue): You get the original touch of the blade. The proper way is to glue both the blade and rubber with an uniform layer and let it dry for a couple of minutes. The glue must be free of solvent volatile compunds.

D.M.V. Sports Madison is pleased to inform you of several recommendations when using regular glue:
- Add a very thin layer of fixed glue to the sponge so it protects against abrasion when using fresh glue.
- Please make sure the outer layer of the blade is clean before gluing your rubbers.
- In you have to unglue old rubbers, use special sprays ("rubber removers") to avoid problems.
- The best way to apply the glue is with a brush (many brands already include them in their cans).

3) Press the rubber with a roller for a better and more uniform gluing.
Advice: When pressing the rubbers you can slightly stretch them. Remember that you should never stretch them too much because the properties of the rubber might change.

4) Cut the rubber with special curved scissors or with a cutter. Try to cut them within the same movement.

5) Add protective edge tape of 6, 9, 10 or 12mm (depending on the thickness of the rubber). It will protect your bat.

6) Clean your rubbers regularly to keep the and adherence of the rubber and other original properties:
- use cleaning spray for normal rubbers.
- use cleaning foam for rubbers with Tensor, Formula, D.TecS or with High Tension systems.
- use a cleaning brush for rubbers with pimples out (both short and long pimples). It is better not to apply directly any spray or foam to the pimples; use a sponge instead.

Advice: Do not apply water, alcohol or any abrasive substance to the rubber because they dry it losing speed, spin and touch.

7) After cleaning the surface of the rubber, apply a protector film so to keep it clean and without dust or any other impurity. If the rubber is made of with Tensor structure, we recommend you to use a specific film developed specially for them.
Advice: Rubbers with high molecular tension do not need any film, even thought it always helps.

8) Place your racket always inside a bat cover or bat case.
Advice: It is better to use rectangular bat covers that shaped ones because they avoid damaging the edges of the rubber and wood.

9) Keep your blade away from high and low temperatures sources.
Advice: If you are using rubbers Tensor, Formula or D.TecS you should keep them in a fresh - not cold - and dry place
